Etchings

I am a printmaker working primarily in etching. Etching brings together skills in drawing, painting and sculpture and it requires an affinity with a chosen material, be it copper, steel, or zinc. Using five hundred year old techniques through a number of different processes I am able to create a vast variety of marks to achieve the desired effect.

My work is abstracted from the people and landscape that surround me. I create images from a combination of observation, memory and imagination, dreams and nightmares. I am interested in the similarities or differences between these methods of working. I delight in creating a visionary world of unusual shapes and forms developed from observations of objects in the natural world.
